So for the very first time in my entire adult life, I’m on vacation. We got into Maui late last night and fell asleep to the sound of waves crashing outside our hotel/condo. Fantastic!

I’m really excited about being here. We’ll see where it goes!

Good-Bye Moustache Man!!!!

So…I gave up. The moustache is clearly not for me, and as a result, has been removed!

Hair Farm II : Eclectic Boogaloo

So far so good. I keep having days where all I want to do is cut everything off, but thankfully Sarah keeps talking me off the ledge. What would I do without her?

I am definitely really starting to look ridiculous…but the moustache seems to be filling out.

Nova went to the barber shop and picked me up a little moustache wax….but I think its not doing much besides making the hair all go in the same direction. But it sure is fun to use that tiny little comb on my face.

Is she black? Is she white? Is she married to M. Night?

There was a long marathon session of the Pixies going on when I got to work this morning, and when this song came on, I was reminded so much of high school. Man, I used to love me some Pixies.

Something about this one line in particular that really brought it all crashing back…the goofy puffy hair, the super tight black jeans, the trenchcoats (ha!), John Fluvog….oh…I could go on and on. Like everyone else, I’m sure my high school years were the some of the worst times of my life. My poor, poor broken heart.

I think it was the year after I graduated that I finally got to see the Pixies play in Vancouver. It was Primus and Pixies opening for Jane’s Addiction. That year, for me, this was probably the line-up of my dreams. We drove into Vancouver….and waited outside in the cold listening to the bands soundchecking. Getting more and more pumped, until they finally let us inside. We all gathered on the floor in front of the stage….just anticipating what was coming.

The lights dimmed, and Les Claypool walked out. Started playing their first song and everybody started towards the stage, and jumping around like crazy. The guys behind me lifted me up onto the crowd, and I started get pushed around on top of everyone….getting closer and closer to the gap between crowd and stage. I got a little too close, and started to fall in, when a couple security guys grabbed me and pulled me down.

And threw me out the back door.

I spent the rest of the night sitting in Burger King eating fries.

But I still love the Pixes.

Hair Farm: The Beginning

It’s been cold this week. REAL cold. Not East Coast cold, but cold enough for me. So cold, that I haven’t really been cutting my hair. And by hair, I mean both the shaggy mop on the top of my head, and the little amount on my lip. Its kind of like a mini-contest with myself to see how long I can hold out.

Its been about a month, and I just about broke yesterday, but Sarah talked me down off the ledge. Thank goodness!

I’m going to try and document it, that way I’ll feel like it’s an actual project, and I’ll be less likely to freak out and dip my head in a bucket of Nair.

So…without further delay, I present to you….Day 30 (ish)

Not bad, right?

I’m definitely jonesing for some actual moustache styling though, I just don’t think it’s quite ready yet.

Rainy November

Its been raining a lot lately….and those rainy days really slow down the amount of foot traffic we see down around the shop. So I’m trying to see if I can’t spend a little more time doing “artsy” things when there’s a little downtime, and a little less time sitting on the internets.

So I busted out this quick little guy today after I finished a little walk-in.
